Few Words About Me

Hi my name is Kris Kern

Coach Kern is an Ohio native and a veteran high school and club coach who brings a wealth of experience to the job in his first year leading the Yellow Jackets.

Kern holds the record for wins as a high school coach in the Buckeye state with a career mark of 762-82 and has received the All Ohio State Coaches Achievement Award three times.

"Kris has a proven record of success as a head coach, and his connections to high school and club volleyball will be an asset in building our volleyball program," .

"I'm really excited, I think West Virginia State is a great opportunity because of its proximity to a lot of good volleyball players," Kern said. "I think the program is a real diamond in the rough."

His teams have captured 19 conference titles, 33 sectional championships, 14 District crowns, and two regional titles. He also led a U-19 squad to a World Tournament championship.

Kern has previous college coaching experience at NCAA Division III Kenyon where he spent two seasons.
He has a son, Connor who currently plays basketball at The Citadel.
